The Shanty on the Ice
For three weeks every winter, Fernley promenade has its own skating, on real ice, to borrowed music. Iris, Greta and Lena have all signed up for a shift. On Saturday afternoon, the gentle waltzes stop and something much louder begins.
What happened
In the skate hut, the loudspeaker was switched from waltzes to sea shanties.
